How it Works
How Silver Cord helps Clients
We offer weekly visits or phone calls to those who live alone, have minimal support, or as extra support for full-time carers.
Our main referrers are services in the Greater Manchester area (Social Prescribers, Adult Services, Police etc.), but anyone can refer as long as the person being referred hits our criteria:
- Live in Tameside or Glossop.
- Priority: Over 50 with minimal support or connections.
- Must be over 18. Referrals for 18-49 year olds will be considered but may result in signposting to groups / services rather than befriending, following assessment.
If you would like to refer someone to us please get in touch.
How Silver Cord helps Churches
If you are a church that wants to respond to loneliness and isolation in your community then Silver Cord can help. We will partner with you to help you with your mission, taking time to talk and to understand what your needs are, as well as those of the elderly you are reaching out to.
Silver Cord is multi-denominational, and partner with churches that have a commitment to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our role is to train volunteers from within a partner church to respond to referrals with weekly visits or calls. Volunteers are supported by a trained coordinator, with monthly opportunities to connect with the befriender community.
